Shanmugasundaram with an insight to serve the society in general and the needy in particular by imparting education. Under the able guidance and directions of our Hon’ble Founder Chancellor Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, The VMKV Arts and Science College formed its base as an Affiliated College under Madras University, Chennai in the year 1995 and later on Affiliated to Periyar University, Salem in the year 1996.In recognition of the Trust excellence in education, the university status was accorded in the year 2001 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
